Bur Oak Woods Nature Preserve is owned by the Shirley Heinze Land Trust and encompasses 84 acres. It is a bur oak savanna remnant that features mesic woodland areas, wet depressions and open sedge meadows. Many majestic bur oak trees found here are several hundred years old, spreading as wide as they are tall, as is typical of open-grown trees.

Protected Species Policy
To prevent poaching, NIRMI does not provide the location of any endangered,
threatened, or otherwise protected species found within any of our plots.
All lists, charts, and calculations (richness, FQI, etc.) therefore exclude
these species as well.
