All surveys we've done since May 2012 include examinations of macrofungi. These are conducted with the same methodology as our plant surveys.
To see if a site has a list of fungi, select a site
and look for the "Fungi" link at the top (as shown below). If absolutely no fungi were found,
the "Fungi" link will not be available.
![]() This brings up a species list similar to the basic plant species list, and includes the same options for viewing spatial information. Directly below the list is a bar graph indicating the relative prevalence of each major ecological role. Please note the weather conditions indicated at the top of this list. Fungi are fickle; a site that has only been surveyed during "poor" or "fair" weather conditions will have a less representative sampling than a site that has been surveyed in "good" or "excellent" weather conditions (these classifications take into account precipitation, habitat type, and time of year). ![]() ![]() ![]() << Back to main tutorial page
